About
Zhifeng Yan is a pioneering surgeon specializing in the application of robotic surgery for gynecologic oncology, with a particular focus on minimally invasive management of ovarian malignancies and ovarian cysts. Dr. Yan’s major contributions center on advancing the feasibility and safety of robotic-assisted techniques for early-stage ovarian cancer and complex benign tumors. Notably, Dr. Yan led the first case series in China evaluating robotic single-site (RSS) surgery for mature cystic teratoma cystectomy using the da Vinci Si system, demonstrating the procedure’s viability in a retrospective study of five patients. This work, along with earlier studies applying robotic surgery to early ovarian malignancy tumors in seven stage I patients, has established foundational evidence for expanding robotic approaches in Chinese medical centers. While each of these seminal papers has garnered 2 citations, their clinical significance lies in pioneering new surgical pathways and reducing invasiveness for patients. Dr. Yan’s research continues to shape the adoption of robotic platforms in gynecologic oncology, offering promising alternatives to traditional laparotomy.
