About
Zhenkun Guan is a pioneering gynecologic surgeon whose work sits at the cutting edge of minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, with a particular focus on transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES), pelvic organ prolapse, and endometriosis management. Guan has been instrumental in advancing robotic-assisted vNOTES procedures, demonstrating their safety and feasibility across complex clinical scenarios — from sacrocolpopexy and hysterectomy to the surgical management of stage IV endometriosis with obliterated cul-de-sac anatomy. His 2021 pilot study on robot-assisted vNOTES for endometriosis (29 citations) and his foundational 2018 work on vNOTES sacrocolpopexy (28 citations) have helped establish the evidence base for these emerging approaches. Guan has also contributed innovations in robotic single-site surgery, laparoendoscopic single-site myomectomy, and cesarean scar defect repair, reflecting a commitment to expanding scarless or reduced-incision options for patients. His use of indocyanine green–assisted ureterolysis highlights a dedication to surgical safety in high-risk cases. With over 177 cumulative citations across a focused body of work, Guan is shaping the future of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
