Zhe Yuan is a leading researcher in the field of logistics and supply chain engineering, with a primary focus on the design and optimization of robotic mobile fulfilment systems (RMFS) for online retail. Yuan’s major contributions lie in developing analytical models and operational rules that dramatically improve the efficiency of automated warehouses. In their highly cited 2017 work (126 citations), Yuan challenged the conventional random assignment of workstations to robots, instead proposing a novel assignment rule based on workstation handling speeds, which significantly boosts system throughput.
