About
Yunhui Liu is a pioneering figure in robotics, whose work has fundamentally shaped the fields of telerobotics, medical robotics, and robot control. His groundbreaking research on "Supermedia in Internet-Based Telerobotic Operations" (2001) introduced a transformative framework for transmitting rich sensory data—including force, visual, and audio feedback—over the internet, enabling more intuitive and effective remote manipulation. This foundational work, which has garnered over 13 citations, laid the groundwork for modern teleoperation systems used in surgery, hazardous environment exploration, and space applications. Beyond telerobotics, Liu has made seminal contributions to the control of redundant manipulators and the development of novel robotic mechanisms for minimally invasive surgery.
