About
Woo Jin Hyung is a pioneering surgical oncologist whose career has been defined by advancing robotic and minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer. Based at a leading Korean institution, Hyung has been instrumental in establishing robotic gastrectomy as a viable and technically refined approach to treating gastric adenocarcinoma, building an evidence base where little previously existed. His most influential contributions span critical questions in the field: demonstrating the feasibility and safety of robot-assisted gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy in early series of 100 patients (288 citations), rigorously comparing robotic and laparoscopic approaches in multicenter prospective trials (316 citations), and quantifying the learning curves surgeons must navigate when adopting robotic platforms (131 citations).
