About
Won Jun Seo is a leading figure in the advancement of minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer, with a particular focus on robotic gastrectomy. His research has been instrumental in demonstrating the safety and efficacy of robotic-assisted techniques, showing a lower conversion rate to open surgery compared to conventional laparoscopy for challenging procedures like completion total gastrectomy. Seo has pioneered reduced-port and totally robotic distal subtotal gastrectomy, developing modified techniques that leverage the Single-Site® platform and fluorescence image-guided surgery to overcome the technical difficulties of limited access. His work also includes critical comparative studies of integrated robotic versus conventional laparoscopic distal gastrectomy, as well as analyses of different da Vinci systems (Xi® vs. Si®).
