About
Won Il Jang is a leading figure in radiation oncology, with a focused expertise in stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for both hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and prostate cancer. His major contributions lie in the dosimetric and clinical optimization of advanced radiation techniques. In a highly cited 2015 study (26 citations), Jang conducted a pivotal dosimetric comparison between volumetric modulated arc therapy (RapidArc) and robotic SBRT (CyberKnife) for HCC, providing critical data that helps clinicians select the most effective and precise treatment modality for liver tumors. Expanding his impact to prostate cancer, Jang led a landmark multicenter retrospective study in 2018 (22 citations) as part of the Korean Radiation Oncology Group (KROG 15-01). This work evaluated long-term treatment outcomes and PSA kinetics following robotic SBRT, offering valuable insights into the efficacy and biochemical control of this non-invasive approach. Through these high-impact studies, Jang has significantly advanced the evidence base for SBRT, helping to refine treatment planning and improve patient outcomes in two major cancer sites.
