About
Wolf B. Frommer is a pioneering plant biologist whose research has fundamentally reshaped our understanding of nutrient transport, sugar signaling, and molecular imaging in living systems. His major contributions include the discovery and characterization of plant sucrose and amino acid transporters, revealing how plants allocate resources for growth and development. Frommer is perhaps best known for developing genetically encoded fluorescent biosensors—such as the FRET-based nanosensors for sugars, amino acids, and ions—that allow real-time monitoring of metabolite dynamics in living cells.
