Dr. Wendy Snyder is a pioneering head and neck surgeon whose work has fundamentally reshaped the surgical management of oropharyngeal and laryngeal cancers. Her primary research focus is the development and clinical validation of Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS), a revolutionary, minimally invasive technique that offers patients a less morbid alternative to traditional open surgery. Dr. Snyder’s major contributions began with her landmark 2006 study on TORS for base of tongue neoplasms (730 citations), which established the feasibility and safety of using robotic instrumentation to access these anatomically challenging tumors. She subsequently expanded the technique’s application, demonstrating its effectiveness for radical tonsillectomy in a phase 1 clinical trial (598 citations) and for supraglottic partial laryngectomy (410 citations).
