About

Wan Yee Lau is a pioneering surgeon whose research centers on advancing minimally invasive robotic surgery for complex hepatopancreaticobiliary procedures. His major contributions include defining the learning curves for robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy and hemihepatectomy, demonstrating that robotic approaches can be safely adopted with appropriate training. Lau led a landmark multicentre randomized controlled trial comparing robotic versus open pancreaticoduodenectomy, showing reduced hospital stays and complications for periampullary tumours (100 citations).
