Vincenzo Scattoni is a leading urologic oncologist whose research has significantly advanced the diagnosis and surgical management of prostate and renal cancers. His most influential work focuses on improving preoperative risk stratification for prostate cancer, particularly through the use of novel biomarkers. His landmark 2011 study, cited over 120 times, demonstrated that the prostate-specific antigen isoform p2PSA and its derivatives—%p2PSA and the Prostate Health Index—can independently predict adverse pathologic outcomes in men undergoing radical prostatectomy. This contribution has helped refine patient selection for surgery and guide treatment decisions. Beyond biomarkers, Scattoni has investigated the impact of surgical technique on patient outcomes.
