Valentina Lanzani’s research lies at the intersection of human biomechanics and human-robot interaction, with a focus on how assistive devices can work in harmony with the body. Her work is particularly concerned with **transparency**—the degree to which a robot or exoskeleton feels “invisible” to its user—and with the **synergistic control** of human movement. In her highly cited 2025 systematic review, Lanzani establishes a critical framework for assessing transparency in robots, exoskeletons, and assistive devices (READs), a key requirement for safe and efficient interaction in rehabilitation and industrial settings. Complementing this, her 2024 study on kinematic–muscular synergies provides a novel method for describing human locomotion through functional patterns of coordinated muscle groups and joints.
