About
Toshiaki Saito is a leading figure in gynecologic oncology, whose research has fundamentally reshaped surgical approaches to early-stage cervical cancer. His primary focus lies in the development and validation of less invasive, function-preserving surgical techniques without compromising oncologic safety. Saito’s most impactful contribution is his leadership of the landmark Japan Clinical Oncology Group study, JCOG1101. This single-arm confirmatory trial rigorously evaluated modified radical hysterectomy for patients with FIGO stage IB1 cervical cancer with tumors 2 cm or smaller.
