Surya Sapkota is a plant pathologist and researcher whose work centers on the sustainable management of grapevine diseases, with a particular emphasis on powdery mildew (*Erysiphe necator*), downy mildew, and sour rot. His most impactful contribution to date is a 2022 study demonstrating that nighttime applications of germicidal ultraviolet (UV-C) light can effectively suppress these three major diseases in vineyards, offering a non-chemical, residue-free alternative for growers.
