About
Dr. Sindhu Sankaran is a pioneering urologic surgeon whose research is reshaping the landscape of robotic surgery. Her primary focus lies in the evaluation and implementation of next-generation robotic platforms, specifically the Hugo RAS system, for complex urologic procedures. Dr. Sankaran’s major contributions stem from her groundbreaking clinical work, where she has provided the first detailed assessments of the Hugo RAS system’s feasibility and safety. Her landmark study, “Evaluation of Hugo RAS System in Major Urologic Surgery,” which has garnered 73 citations, established the initial benchmarks for this emerging technology in nephrectomy and prostatectomy. This was complemented by her highly influential work on robot-assisted radical prostatectomy using the Hugo RAS platform (68 citations), which offered critical comparative outcomes against the established DaVinci system. More recently, Dr. Sankaran has advanced the field by investigating the role of three-dimensional reconstruction in optimizing operative and ischaemic times during robot-assisted partial nephrectomy. Through her rigorous clinical evaluations, Dr. Sankaran is not only validating new surgical tools but also actively shaping the future of minimally invasive urologic oncology, making her a leading voice in the adoption of innovative robotic technologies.
