About
Shuyi Pan is a rising scholar in human-robot interaction (HRI), whose work probes the psychological dynamics that shape how people relate to social robots. Her research centers on the social and emotional dimensions of HRI, particularly the mechanisms of self-disclosure and liking—concepts traditionally studied in human relationships. In her most-cited paper, “Does Self-Disclosing to a Robot Induce Liking for the Robot? Testing the Disclosure and Liking Hypotheses in Human–Robot Interaction” (2023, 25 citations), Pan investigates whether the well-established disclosure-liking effect from human psychology transfers to interactions with robots.
