About
Dr. Saurabh Joshi is a pioneering robotic surgeon whose work has fundamentally advanced minimally invasive oncological surgery, particularly in India. His research focuses on the application of robotic platforms for complex cancer resections, with major contributions in thoracic, gynecologic, and colorectal oncology. Dr. Joshi’s landmark paper, “Robotic transthoracic esophagectomy” (2015), with 42 citations, represents one of the largest single-institute series of its kind, establishing the feasibility and safety of the robotic approach for esophageal cancer. He further demonstrated his technical innovation by adapting the laparoscopic Pune technique to robotic radical hysterectomy (2010) and by developing a nerve-sparing approach for the same procedure (2013).
