About

Dr. Ryuta Watanabe is a urologic surgeon and researcher whose work focuses on advancing the diagnosis and surgical management of prostate cancer, particularly in high-risk and advanced disease states. His research spans from molecular mechanisms of tumor progression to the evaluation of novel robotic surgical platforms. Notably, Dr. Watanabe led a highly cited study demonstrating that PSMA-positive membranes secreted by prostate cancer cells can transform vascular endothelial cells into an angiogenic state, a key finding that links PSMA expression directly to tumor vascularization and has garnered 23 citations.
