About
Dr. Riya Bhasin is a pioneering cardiac surgeon whose work is redefining the limits of minimally invasive heart surgery. Her research centers on robotic totally endoscopic (TECAB) and sternal-sparing approaches for coronary revascularization and valvular repair, with a specific focus on multi-arterial grafting. Dr. Bhasin’s major contributions include demonstrating the long-term safety and efficacy of robotic beating-heart TECAB, with landmark studies showing excellent 10-year outcomes and proving the feasibility of bilateral internal thoracic artery (BITA) grafting without the risk of sternal wound infection—a critical advantage for diabetic and obese patients. Her work on robotic mitral and tricuspid valve surgeries, including a series of 550 mitral procedures, has helped establish comprehensive robotic cardiac programs as a new standard of care. With over 30 citations across her recent, high-impact publications, Dr. Bhasin is a leading voice in the field, consistently pushing the boundaries of what is possible with robotic technology to improve patient recovery and long-term survival.
