Qianjun Zhou is a pioneering thoracic surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for lung cancer treatment, particularly through robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS). His major contributions center on demonstrating the safety, efficacy, and superior outcomes of robotic segmentectomy and lobectomy compared to traditional video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In his landmark 2020 study (62 citations), Zhou showed that robotic-assisted segmentectomy offers comparable long-term survival with potentially better operative outcomes for stage IA lung cancer.
