Prasanta Bose’s research lies at the intersection of autonomous robotics and space exploration infrastructure, with a focus on enabling intelligent systems to operate under severe sensing and communication constraints. His work addresses fundamental challenges in real-time perception and extraterrestrial networking. In his highly cited 2010 paper (22 citations), Bose pioneered a method for real-time indoor mapping using only short-range sensors, a critical advance for mobile robots navigating cluttered, GPS-denied environments where traditional long-range sensing is unavailable.
