Paul Bach‐y‐Rita was a visionary neuroscientist whose pioneering work on sensory substitution and brain plasticity fundamentally reshaped our understanding of how the brain adapts to sensory loss. His research focused on developing technologies that replace missing sensory input—such as vision or touch—by rerouting information through intact senses, leveraging the brain’s remarkable plasticity.
