About
Patricia Sylla is a pioneering colorectal surgeon whose work has fundamentally reshaped minimally invasive surgery. Her research centers on three key areas: advancing transanal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES), refining robotic-assisted colorectal procedures, and defining the role of artificial intelligence in the operating room. She is best known for her leadership in transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME), a paradigm-shifting technique for rectal cancer that avoids abdominal incisions.
