About
Dr. O.O. Kalinchuk is a pioneering pediatric and adult robotic surgeon whose work is helping to establish minimally invasive, high-tech surgical care in Ukraine. His primary research focuses on the implementation and evaluation of robotic-assisted surgery using the da Vinci system, with a particular emphasis on its application in childhood. Dr. Kalinchuk’s major contributions include documenting the first experience of robot-assisted surgery in Ukrainian children, a landmark achievement that opens the door for advanced, less traumatic procedures for young patients. He has also conducted comprehensive analyses of early and immediate surgical outcomes, reviewing a series of 180 robotic operations performed between 2020 and 2024 on both adults (108 patients) and children (72 patients). This work is critical for assessing the quality and safety of robotic surgical care in the region. While his most cited works are recent, their significance lies in their foundational role for future research and clinical practice in Ukraine. Dr. Kalinchuk is at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge technology into national surgical programs, demonstrating that complex robotic procedures are feasible and beneficial across all age groups.
