About
Dr. D.V. Shevchuk is a pioneering surgeon at the forefront of minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery in Ukraine, with a particular focus on pediatric applications. As a leading figure in the adoption of high-tech surgical interventions, Dr. Shevchuk has been instrumental in introducing and refining robotic surgery for children, a field that remains in its infancy globally. Their landmark work, "The first experience of using robot-assisted surgery in childhood in Ukraine" (2022), documents the historic initial use of the da Vinci system for pediatric cases in the country, establishing a new standard of care. Building on this foundation, Dr. Shevchuk’s comprehensive analysis of 180 robotic operations (2025) across both adults (108 patients) and children (72 patients) provides critical early and immediate outcome data, demonstrating the safety and feasibility of the approach. This work, spanning 2020-2024, showcases a substantial clinical volume and offers valuable insights into the quality of robotic surgical care. By bridging the gap between adult and pediatric robotic surgery, Dr. Shevchuk is not only advancing surgical precision but also training a new generation of surgeons in these transformative techniques, solidifying their role as a key innovator in Ukrainian healthcare.
