Nina Dominas is a pioneering surgeon whose work has been instrumental in advancing transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for head and neck tumors. Her research focuses on the clinical application and refinement of robotic systems to improve surgical outcomes for patients with cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract. Dominas led one of the earliest prospective clinical studies on the Flex Robotic System, a novel flexible robotic device specifically designed for TORS. Her landmark paper, “Flex Robotic System in transoral robotic surgery: The first 40 patients” (2016), with 95 citations, established the safety and efficacy of this platform, demonstrating its potential to access difficult-to-reach anatomical areas with enhanced precision.
