About
Nen-Fu Huang is a leading figure in next-generation networking, whose work has been instrumental in shaping the evolution from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0. His research centers on network automation, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and the integration of pervasive AI with human-robot collaboration. Huang’s most influential contribution is his comprehensive 2022 survey on network automation for IIoT, which has garnered 188 citations and serves as a foundational roadmap for the field. In this work, he systematically analyzes how 5G-based IIoT deployments are driving automation, and critically, he projects how these systems will transition toward 6G-enabled, human-centric environments. By bridging the gap between current industrial practices and future collaborative ecosystems, Huang has provided a crucial framework for researchers and engineers. His work not only synthesizes a fragmented research landscape but also identifies key challenges and opportunities, making him a pivotal voice in defining the technological trajectory toward Industry 5.0.
