About
Mriganka De is a leading researcher in head and neck surgical oncology, with a focused expertise in Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS). His work has fundamentally advanced the management of complex malignancies, particularly in the challenging domains of retropharyngeal lymph node metastases and carcinoma of unknown primary. De’s major contributions include demonstrating the efficacy of TORS for primary tumour detection, as evidenced by his meta-analysis on tongue base mucosectomy (12 citations), and establishing its role in treating early-stage oropharyngeal cancer. His systematic review and meta-analysis comparing TORS to primary radiotherapy for quality-of-life outcomes (15 citations) provides critical, patient-centered evidence guiding treatment decisions. With a cumulative impact of over 55 citations, De has also pioneered the use of novel haemostatic agents like PuraBond® in TORS and has developed a standardized consent form for procedural complications. His recent meta-analysis on sleep outcomes following TORS for obstructive sleep apnoea further broadens the application of robotic surgery. Through rigorous meta-analyses and clinical studies, Mriganka De is shaping the future of minimally invasive head and neck surgery, improving both oncologic outcomes and patient quality of life.
