About

Masao Ushio is a leading figure in the field of advanced welding metallurgy and manufacturing engineering, with a primary focus on the joining of lightweight aluminium alloys. His most significant contribution is the development of the alternating current (AC) pulsed metal inert gas (MIG) welding system, a breakthrough that dramatically improved the quality and productivity of thin-sheet aluminium welding. This work, which has garnered 90 citations, demonstrated key advantages such as a high wire melting coefficient, low heat input, and reduced risk of burn-through, solving a critical industrial challenge.
