About
Lifei Xie is a pioneering surgeon in the field of robotic-assisted gastrointestinal oncology, with a focused expertise in minimally invasive surgery for gastric and colorectal cancers. His major contributions lie in demonstrating the safety, feasibility, and efficacy of the da Vinci surgical system for complex oncologic resections. In his landmark 2012 study, Xie reported on 120 cases of robotic gastrectomy for gastric cancer, providing one of the earliest large-scale validations of this advanced technique. This work, cited 18 times, established critical benchmarks for robotic surgery in the upper gastrointestinal tract. He further extended this approach to colon cancer, publishing a 2011 case series on robotic-assisted laparoscopic colectomy. Through these pioneering efforts, Xie has helped define the learning curve and clinical outcomes for robotic oncologic surgery, advancing the field toward more precise, less invasive treatments for cancer patients. His work remains a foundational reference for surgeons adopting robotic platforms in gastrointestinal oncology.
