About

Liaomo Zheng is a researcher at the forefront of intelligent manufacturing and robotics, whose work bridges the gap between traditional industrial processes and cutting-edge automation. Zheng’s primary research areas include intelligent production line design, machine vision, and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) for mobile robots. A major contribution is the development of a novel loop closure detection method for mobile robot SLAM, which integrates residual and capsule networks to dramatically improve accuracy and robustness in complex environments—a critical advancement for autonomous navigation. In the industrial domain, Zheng has designed intelligent production lines for the clothing industry, optimizing hardware deployment and management architecture to modernize textile manufacturing. Further demonstrating versatility, Zheng has applied machine vision to automate high-speed railway infrastructure, developing a vision-guided robotic platform for precise anchor sealing on CRTS-III slab ballastless track plates. Additionally, Zheng’s work on binocular vision systems for 3D robot grasping has advanced six-degree-of-freedom pose estimation for weakly textured objects, a key challenge in complex environments. With papers accumulating over 15 citations, Zheng’s research is steadily gaining recognition for its practical impact on industrial automation and robotics.
