About
Dr. Kishore Thekke Adiyat is a pioneering robotic surgeon whose work has fundamentally advanced the field of renal transplantation and complex urologic oncology. His primary research focuses on developing and refining minimally invasive techniques to improve patient outcomes in kidney transplant surgery and the management of challenging adrenal and renal tumors. Dr. Adiyat’s major contributions include pioneering total extraperitonealization of the graft during robotic-assisted renal transplantation, a technique detailed in his highly cited 2018 study of 34 cases (12 citations). He has also advanced the field with novel approaches for managing post-transplant ureteric strictures and has demonstrated the feasibility of vaginally inserted allografts. His work extends to complex oncology, where he has successfully performed robotic excision of adrenal masses with retrocaval extension and, most notably, developed a total abdominal robotic approach for level 4 inferior vena cava thrombus in renal cell carcinoma. These achievements showcase his ability to push the boundaries of robotic surgery, offering patients less invasive options for previously open-only procedures.
