About
Kenneth Jacobsohn is a leading urologic surgeon and researcher whose work centers on advancing robotic-assisted surgery for complex kidney and prostate cancers. His major contributions lie in demonstrating the feasibility and safety of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) for large, clinical T2 renal tumors—a population traditionally managed with radical nephrectomy. Through the multi-institutional ROSULA Collaborative Group, he has produced landmark studies showing that RAPN can achieve excellent oncologic and functional outcomes for tumors over 7 cm, with his most cited paper (147 citations) establishing a multicenter benchmark for this approach. His comparative analyses, including propensity-score-matched studies with over 60 citations, have helped shift practice toward nephron-sparing surgery even for advanced-stage disease. Jacobsohn has also pioneered techniques in robotic inguinal lymphadenectomy and salvage prostatectomy, and contributed to opioid-free pain management protocols. With over 390 cumulative citations across his most influential works, his research has directly shaped clinical guidelines and expanded the boundaries of what is achievable with minimally invasive urologic oncology.
