Jung Dug Yang is a pioneering reconstructive surgeon whose work is reshaping the landscape of breast cancer surgery by merging oncologic safety with exceptional aesthetic outcomes. His primary research focuses on minimally invasive and robotic-assisted breast reconstruction, where he has made landmark contributions. In his highly cited 2023 study, Yang demonstrated the superiority of robot-assisted latissimus dorsi flap harvest over conventional and endoscopic methods for partial breast reconstruction, offering patients reduced scarring and faster recovery. His 2021 work on "aesthetic scar-less mastectomy" further advanced the field, challenging traditional paradigms by proving that radical oncologic resections can be performed without visible scarring.
