John A. Katzenellenbogen is a pioneering figure in chemical biology and nuclear receptor pharmacology, whose work has fundamentally advanced our understanding of hormone action and radiopharmaceutical development. His research centers on the design and synthesis of selective ligands for estrogen and other nuclear hormone receptors, with a major focus on creating imaging agents for positron emission tomography (PET).
