Joan Daniel Vargas is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of neurointervention and robotic surgery, whose work is redefining the future of stroke care. His primary research focuses on the feasibility and efficacy of robot-assisted endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke—a critical area where rapid, expert intervention can mean the difference between life and disability. Vargas’s landmark study, the Core-Flow project, provided the first rigorous, in vitro comparison of robotic-assisted mechanical thrombectomy using the CorPath GRX system against manual procedures.
