About
Jinkai Guo is a researcher at the forefront of agricultural robotics and computer vision, with a primary focus on developing intelligent detection systems for specialty crop harvesting. His most significant contribution is the design of a visual detection system for a Zanthoxylum-harvesting robot, detailed in his highly cited 2023 paper. To overcome the challenges of detecting mature Zanthoxylum in complex natural environments—including irregular fruit shapes and severe occlusion from overlapping branches—Guo proposed an improved YOLOv5 object detection model. This work directly addresses a critical bottleneck in automating the harvest of this economically important spice crop. With 12 citations since its publication, his research demonstrates immediate impact in the precision agriculture community. Guo’s innovative integration of deep learning with robotic perception not only advances the field of agricultural automation but also provides a practical framework for developing harvesting robots for other visually complex crops, marking him as a promising contributor to smart farming technologies.
