About

Jindong Tian is a leading researcher at the intersection of tactile sensing, embodied intelligence, and robotic perception. His work focuses on developing advanced sensory systems that enable robots to interact with their environments with human-like dexterity and awareness. A key contribution is the development of a "Multifunctional Tactile Sensory System" (2024, 32 citations), which allows robots to identify and manipulate objects by sensing multidimensional force features—mimicking the human sense of touch. Tian further advanced this field with a "Highly resilient aerogel/sponge nested structures" system (2024, 10 citations), which integrates multimodal tactile sensing with large language models (LLMs) to overcome the limitations of passive information reception, enabling robots to perform embodied perception and reasoning. His work is pioneering in merging soft, resilient materials with AI to create a closed-loop system for robotic interaction. Beyond tactile sensing, Tian addresses practical challenges in autonomous driving and robotics with a "two-stage network for iToF depth image restoration in foggy environments" (2025), tackling the critical issue of depth perception degradation in adverse weather. Through his innovative integration of materials science, sensor design, and AI, Jindong Tian is shaping the future of intelligent, perceptive robotic systems.
