About
Jennifer Crook’s research confronts one of oncology’s most persistent inequities: prostate cancer disparities among Black men. As a leading voice in health equity, she co-founded the Inclusive Cancer Care Research Equity (iCCaRE) for Black Men Consortium, a landmark initiative that redefines how complex chronic diseases are studied and addressed. Her work moves beyond documenting disparities to building actionable frameworks that integrate community engagement, clinical care, and systemic change. Crook’s 2023 abstract, “Addressing prostate cancer disparities through the Inclusive Cancer Care Research Equity (iCCaRE) for Black men consortium,” has already garnered attention for its innovative, microcosm-to-global perspective—recognizing that the burden on Black men in the U.S. mirrors a worldwide crisis. By centering lived experience alongside rigorous science, she is shaping a new paradigm for inclusive research. Her contributions are vital for students and researchers seeking to understand how equity-driven methodologies can transform cancer care and reduce mortality gaps. Crook’s work is a blueprint for turning awareness into action.
