About

Jayant Uberoi is a pioneering urologic surgeon whose work has significantly advanced the field of minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery. His primary research focuses on the application of robotic technology to complex urologic conditions, particularly in the management of pelvic-ureteric junction (PUJ) obstruction and urologic oncology. Uberoi’s landmark paper on robotic-assisted pyeloplasty (2009, 54 citations) remains a cornerstone reference, establishing the efficacy and safety of this technique for PUJ obstruction. He further demonstrated technical innovation with his description of robot-assisted laparoscopic distal ureterectomy with psoas hitch (2007, 53 citations), providing a critical surgical option for distal ureteral tumors. His work also extends to prostate cancer, where he investigated predictors of favorable pathologic outcomes in high-risk patients undergoing robotic radical prostatectomy (2010). Through these contributions, Uberoi has helped define the modern standard of care, proving that robotic approaches can achieve excellent outcomes while minimizing patient morbidity. His research continues to guide surgeons in selecting and performing advanced robotic procedures for complex urologic diseases.
