About
Igor Nunes‐Silva is a leading urologic surgeon and researcher whose work centers on advancing the surgical management of prostate cancer, with a particular focus on optimizing outcomes through robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and focal therapy. His major contributions include pioneering comparative analyses of partial gland ablation versus radical prostatectomy for low- and intermediate-risk disease, demonstrating that focal therapy can preserve functional outcomes without compromising oncologic control. He has also systematically evaluated the role of salvage RARP after prior focal therapy, showing that while feasible, it carries distinct perioperative challenges. His meta-analyses on surgical margins and biochemical recurrence in high-risk prostate cancer, as well as the safety of continuing aspirin during RARP, have directly informed clinical guidelines.
