About
Hui Zong is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of urologic oncology and artificial intelligence, with a primary focus on revolutionizing prostate cancer treatment through intelligent robotic surgery. His work has fundamentally advanced the field by developing knowledge-guided decision support platforms that personalize robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). Zong’s landmark paper on the five-stage evolution of robot-assisted surgery for prostate cancer, with 21 citations, provides a comprehensive framework for understanding how technologies like brain-computer interfaces, virtual reality, and the metaverse are transforming surgical practice. He created the RARPKB platform, a knowledge-guide decision support system that addresses the critical challenge of rational surgical decision-making amid clinical complexity and physician expertise limitations. Zong has also pioneered the application of interpretable artificial intelligence in surgical outcomes prediction, developing deep learning methods that predict postoperative urinary incontinence using multiple anatomic MRI parameters. His work on Captum-based neural network interpretation represents a significant contribution to making AI models transparent and clinically trustworthy. With multiple highly-cited publications in 2023-2024, Hui Zong is establishing himself as a leading voice in the integration of intelligent medicine with precision surgery for prostate cancer.
