About
Honwah Wai is a leading figure in rehabilitation robotics, with a focused mission to restore mobility for stroke survivors. His research sits at the intersection of biomechatronics and neurorehabilitation, specializing in the design of lightweight, intelligent exoskeletons and hybrid therapeutic systems. Wai’s major contributions include the development of a novel, portable robot-assisted ankle-foot-orthosis (AFO) that uses real-time sensor feedback to detect a wearer’s gait intention and provide powered dorsiflexion assistance.
