Dr. Hidenori Otsubo is a leading orthopedic biomechanics researcher whose work has fundamentally advanced the understanding and surgical treatment of knee and ankle injuries, particularly anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. His research focuses on optimizing graft fixation parameters—such as knee flexion angle and initial tension—to improve surgical outcomes and restore native knee kinematics. Dr. Otsubo’s major contributions include pioneering biomechanical comparisons of single-, double-, and triple-bundle ACL reconstructions, and demonstrating the superiority of rectangular-tunnel over round-tunnel techniques using bone-patellar tendon-bone grafts.
