About
Hee Dong Chae is a gynecological surgeon and clinical researcher whose work centers on minimally invasive surgical techniques for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and uterine conditions. Based at Seoul Asan Hospital, Chae has established a reputation as a pioneer in robotic-assisted gynecological surgery, contributing meaningful advances to the field through both technical innovation and rigorous clinical analysis. Chae's most influential contribution — garnering 34 citations — is a landmark comparative study of two types of single-incision robotic sacrocolpopexy, evaluating the da Vinci Xi/Si and da Vinci SP systems. This work helps surgeons navigate evolving robotic platforms and represents some of the first published data on single-port robotic sacrocolpopexy, a procedure Chae also reported early clinical experience with in 2019.
