About
Hayder Alhusseinawi is a rising surgical researcher whose work centers on optimizing outcomes in robot-assisted urologic oncology, with a particular focus on prostate and upper tract cancers. His most impactful contribution is a landmark randomized, triple-blinded trial comparing low- versus standard-pressure pneumoperitoneum during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP), which has already garnered 8 citations since 2023. This study directly addresses the critical balance between postoperative quality of recovery and adequate surgical workspace—a tension at the heart of minimally invasive surgery. To further refine this balance, Alhusseinawi led the validation of a modified 5-point surgical rating scale specifically for robot-assisted procedures, providing surgeons with a reliable tool to objectively assess workspace conditions.
