About
Dr. Hai Bi is a pioneering urologic surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive techniques for complex renal cancers, particularly those involving venous tumor thrombus. His major contributions center on refining robot-assisted laparoscopic inferior vena cava thrombectomy (RAL-IVCT), a high-risk procedure for renal cell carcinoma extending into the venous system. In a landmark 2022 propensity-matched cohort study (14 citations), Dr. Bi demonstrated that robotic and laparoscopic approaches achieve comparable surgical and oncologic outcomes to open surgery for radical nephrectomy with venous thrombectomy, while offering reduced morbidity.
