Giuseppe Malleo is a leading pancreatic surgeon whose research has fundamentally shaped the practice of minimally invasive distal pancreatectomy (MIDP). His work centers on comparing laparoscopic and robotic approaches, with a focus on improving surgical outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and surgeon ergonomics. Malleo’s landmark 2014 prospective study (123 citations) established key benchmarks for laparoscopic versus robotic distal pancreatectomy, while his subsequent propensity score-matched analysis (67 citations) provided critical evidence on cost-effectiveness and quality of life.
