About
Gilberto Poggioli is a pioneering colorectal surgeon whose work is reshaping minimally invasive surgery through the adoption and refinement of next-generation robotic platforms. Based at a tertiary referral center, his primary research focuses on the clinical implementation of the Medtronic Hugo™ RAS system for complex abdominal and pelvic procedures. Poggioli’s major contributions include developing a novel multi-docking strategy for robotic low anterior resection and deep pelvic surgery, and publishing the first worldwide report on the safety and feasibility of the Hugo™ RAS for alimentary tract surgery.
