Dr. Gautam Jayram is a leading urologic oncologist and robotic surgeon whose research has fundamentally shaped the modern approach to kidney and prostate cancer surgery. His most impactful work, a landmark 2012 study with 263 citations, demonstrated that the adoption of robotic technology was directly associated with a significant increase in the use of partial nephrectomy—a kidney-sparing procedure—over radical nephrectomy, helping to reverse a troubling national trend of unnecessary organ removal.
